Is Laser Cleaning Safe?

As with any high efficiency cleaning method, laser cleaning presents it’s own challenges.  Our skilled, highly trained technicians take every precaution to minimize any risk to personnel, family members, pets & property, especially when working with highly reflective materials.

Media or sandblasting involves propelling abrasive materials—such as sand, grit, or other media—at high speed to strip away paint, dirt, and grime from surfaces. While effective, this process is messy & generates significant amounts of dust and debris, which can pose environmental risks, particularly when used on large structures like boats or building facades.  Laser cleaning is a non-contact method of cleaning which vaporizes the desired layer of oxidation or contaminant and does not effect the underlying surface, making it ideal for intricate machinery, statuary and buildings.

Unlike traditional methods, laser cleaning technology ablates (vaporizes) the entire contaminant layer which eliminates the creation of dust and particles, providing a superior, environmentally responsible approach to cleaning without caustic, harmful chemicals.

Yes.  We have invested is mighty 500W laser cleaning machines, which, although only weigh about 120 lbs, provide the heavy duty cleaning power of machines that weigh 3 times that.  This is a key advantage of mobile cleaning systems, as they can be effortlessly relocated to any job site, allow on-location cleaning even in isolated or inaccessible locations. We also have a shop in Dublin, OH that we can transport materials to for cleaning.

Although our primary service area is a 25 mile radius of Columbus, OH, the specialized nature and high-demand of our laser cleaning service often takes us to areas like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Akron, Toledo and even sometimes Pittsburgh & Indianapolis.

Why Should I Hire Columbus Laser Cleaning?

Columbus Laser Cleaning is part of a family of companies that has extensive experience in commercial, industrial and residential surface preparation & cleaning.  Not only do we remove the undesired coating, but our sister company, Dublin Electrostatic Painting, provides durable painting & refinishing coatings for all types of residential & commercial metal surfaces.  Together we have served the needs of Columbus & surrounding communities since 2005.

In welding and painting, “roughing” refers to the process of abrading a surface to create a rough texture. This is a key step in preparation, as it removes contaminants and increases the surface area, which improves the adhesion of the subsequent weld or coating.  Our laser cleaning machine has a setting to provide an even roughing to provide a tight, contaminate free surface for welding or painting.  It also remove ‘weld splatter’ after the welding project.

Laser cleaning costs can vary widely depending on variables of the project (accessibility, location, after hours/weekend schedule, etc).  You can expect to pay $250-$350 an hour, but projects may be priced by the job or day.  Laser cleaning is one of the least costly of cleaning methods like sand-blasting, shot blasting, glass blasting, slurry blasting and dry ice blasting because there are no consumables or cleanup.

Our family of companies is used to working with local corporations & homeowners whose schedule doesn’t always coincide with the typical 9-5, M-F hours.  Plants go into shutdown around December and provide MRO teardown and maintenance around the clock (and we’re usually there, too!).  Columbus Laser Cleaning can work around your schedule to provide services at a time that is convenient to you.

Laser cleaning utilizes focused laser pulses to precisely remove contaminants from plastic injection & tire injection molds without harming the mold surface. This advanced technique offers a fast, accurate, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional cleaning methods that rely on harsh chemicals or abrasive blasting. Because it is non-destructive, media-free, and capable of reaching intricate geometries and tight spaces, laser cleaning is especially well-suited for maintaining complex tire molds efficiently.
